About the Founders

Dr. Joe Roselle and Heather Roselle bring nearly 50 years of combined experience in education. Their professional journey spans preschool through eighth grade, where they have served as classroom teachers, instructional leaders, and both building- and district-level administrators. Together, they have cultivated learning environments that prioritize student growth, teacher development, and community engagement.

The Briar Patch Foundation was born from a legacy of passionate educators spanning generations, united by a commitment to empower and transform impoverished communities. Rooted in the values of service and stewardship, our founders have dedicated their lives to education and volunteering with organizations like the Lions Club and the Climate Reality Project. We believe in the power of collaboration to uplift the underserved, fostering resilience and equity through shared knowledge and sustainable solutions. Together, we cultivate hope and opportunity where it’s needed most.

In addition to his work in schools, Dr. Joe Roselle has spent over a decade leading statewide, national, and international nonprofit organizations. His focus has been on climate-smart education, sustainable development, and creating systems that empower communities through knowledge and action. Together, the Roselles continue to inspire others to lead with purpose and build more resilient communities through programs that close the gap between information and action.

Our mission

We help communities grow stronger by giving them the tools, knowledge, and support they need to improve education and create healthy, sustainable food systems.

Our vision

To cultivate communities where access to education and nourishing food systems is never a barrier.

Our team

Our team is guided by a deep desire to spark change in the world. That spark was lit by the people who once inspired us—mentors, neighbors, teachers, and changemakers—whose passion and purpose shaped our own. Now, we carry their legacy forward, hoping to ignite that same sense of purpose in others.
